Remember how a blog was going to be the cure for my not writing anything down in my life? Yeah, I remember that too. opps.
So, I went to Enrichment tonight in my ward. Since it is March, the theme was the birthday of the Relief Society Organization. Happy Birthday RS! I liked how it was handled in my ward. We got together, ate delicious soup and salad. I made a spinach strawberry salad. Yum! After the lesson about some of the history of the organization, we began to discuss what the relief society is really about: serving others. There was a big white board with some volunteer opportunities that were already presented for consideration that we could undertake as a group. It really got me thinking again about the ways that I could be doing more to help others. I think I've had a pretty selfish year. And I also think the best way to get out of it, is to serve others.
One of the girls in my ward works for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. I can not even imagine the job satisfaction she must feel everyday, coming home, knowing that each day, she's done a little more the make the dreams of children come true!! She mentioned that you could volunteer through Make-A-Wish and be a Wish Granter! My jaw dropped. It hadn't even occurred to me that I could volunteer for something like that! I assumed that was all handled by paid employees.
It's kind of unfortunate that trials have to touch one's life before they become a cause in one's life. My nephew is in remission from cancer. Seeing this experience through his eyes, and through the eyes of his family, has made me more aware of organizations like Make-A-Wish, the Ronald McDonald House, Team in Training, and other organizations for cancer patients and their families. I have to admit, it is because of my nephew that I feel so much that I want to be apart of Make-A-Wish. They've granted a wish for him, I'd like nothing more than to be apart of granting a wish of another child.
It may be a month or more before I can get into the next training to become a Wish Granter. But, when it come.... That will be a good day!

Worth a shot
Apparently picking up a little book along with the corresponding pen has proven too difficult for me over the last year. In fact, upon inspection of my journal yesterday, I noticed that the last entry was dated Jan. 19, 2008. A whole year gone without a word.
I've noticed the trend in my life toward the digital. And blogging seems to be the latest bandwagon, so, well... here I come, both feet in. Splash.
